OVERVIEW OF AWESOME!

Welcome to Episode 20 of Imagine Better! In this episode, I’m excited to have Sabrina Banks with me as we dive into the theme “Uplifted and Free.”

Sabrina was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where she has become a powerful force for change, growth, and advocacy. She is a mother, motivational speaker, advocate, mentor, and certified life coach. In addition to these roles, she is the Founder and Chief Executive Director of Uplifted and Free, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges.

As a survivor of multiple traumatic events, Sabrina has faced significant hurdles in her life. She was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES), conditions that have greatly impacted her journey. Despite these challenges, Sabrina continues to walk in her purpose, using her story as a source of strength and inspiration for others.

She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work through Wayne State University’s Advanced Standing Program. Her commitment to bettering her community goes beyond her academic pursuits; Sabrina has been deeply involved in community engagement, advocating for mental health awareness, and supporting diversity initiatives. She is an active member of the NAACP and serves on the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan’s Diversity Council.

Sabrina is also working on two major projects that will further amplify her voice and advocacy efforts. She is writing a book titled “Dear God, Hear Me Out” and is set to release a documentary about her life’s journey called “Restoration.” Through these platforms, Sabrina hopes to inspire hope and healing, showing that it’s possible to rise above life’s challenges and find purpose even after traumatic experiences.

She believes strongly in the power of words followed by actions and is dedicated to being an advocate and survivor speaker. Sabrina’s goal is to bring awareness to mental health issues and give hope to individuals who have faced life’s toughest obstacles. Her life is a testament to resilience, and she continues to uplift others with her message of perseverance and empowerment.
